The University of Sussex, located in the beautiful coastal town of Brighton, is an excellent example of a southern university. Boasting a modern campus with all the amenities one could ask for nestled in national park land and only 20 minutes from the ocean.
The University houses eight research centres that are accessible for law students to get involved with, and is affiliated with dozens of other centers and institutes. Research is a strong focus for the University and the law school, ranked in the top 15 universities in the UK according to the Times Higher Education Rankings and 26th in the UK for Law research in the 2014 REF’s.
Sussex Law School has developed solid links with Canada and there are now more than 100 Canadian students studying law. This strong Canadian influence on campus is reflected in the existence of the Canadian Student Law Society. The law school has expanded at an increasing rate, resulting in a new research centres including The Centre for Responsibilities, Rights and the Law. The school also offers various practical skills-based courses including: mooting, client interviewing, negotiation and criminal advocacy.
